On Considering the Influence of Kinematic Hardening in Finite Element Simulation of Hot Levelling of Structural Steel Heavy Plates

Flatness is an important quality parameter of heavy plates and it generally achieved through cyclic elastoplastic deformation the plate in a hot roller leveller following rolling cooling processes. To investigate optimize levelling (straightening) process, Finite Element (FE) simulations are widely used. Generally, flow curves with isotropic hardening used for simulations. However, material might exhibit kinematic hardening, due to load reversal that seldom considered laborious high temperature characterization. The current work aims at understanding implications considering within Hot uniaxial characterization S355 steel 1000 °C performed corresponding stress-strain extracted. Using inverse modelling technique, associated models calibrated. data showed exhibits Chaboche model suitable this behaviour. noticeable difference roll reaction forces local curvature during process while resulting flatness final not very sensitive investigated scenarios.
